Culture and vineyards in the Loire Valley

Combine cultural treasures and wine culture over four days in the Loire Valley region. The Loire is the longest river in France. Wine has been cultivated on its banks since the 5th century on more than 70,000 hectares of vineyards. Get to know the four different wine-growing areas and their special features while discovering the region’s important cultural treasures and sampling its excellent wines.

Programme

Day 1: Individual arrival. Welcome cocktail in the castle followed by dinner with the group at 6.00 p.m.

Day 2: After breakfast, we will embark on an early-morning bus trip to Sancerre by the Loire, where we will visit the Henri Bourgeois vineyard. After lunch in the family-run bistro Les Monts Damnés, we continue our journey on to Pouilly-sur-Loire, where we visit the wine-producing region’s information centre. Dinner at the castle.

Day 3: Visit to Tours, a city renowned for its art, history and cuisine. Group lunch. We continue on to Montlouis sur Loire, where we will visit the cellar of the wine producers that will provide us with an introduction to the wines of the Touraine province. Dinner at the castle.

Day 4: In the morning, we will discover the medieval city of Chinon and its wines. We will eat lunch here together and then travel to the famous Royal Abbey of Our Lady of Fontevraud. Dinner at the castle.

Day 5: After visiting the wine regions of Quincy and Reuilly, we will eat lunch in the restaurant Les Saisons Gourmandes. In the evening, you can look forward to a farewell dinner with the group in the castle.

Day 6: Breakfast and individual departure or option to extend stay.

The historic province of Berry impresses with its green landscapes, small pools, forests and rivers. Explore the area on relaxing hikes, discover the beauty of the heart of France and the tradition surrounding chestnuts, and get a taste of the region’s savoir-vivre, from breakfast right through to dinner.

Chestnut festival in Éguzon and hiking on guided tours in France, with a stay at Hapimag Resort Château de Chabenet

Programme

You’ll be there for Éguzon’s traditional chestnut festival, which celebrates chestnuts in all their delicious glory. The festive event also includes three days of hiking around the nearby lakes and along the River Creuse. We’ll be following in the footsteps of French artists such as Claude Monet, along romantic rivers and of course around the castle. And no visit would be complete without a tour of the château, organised by Hapimag Resort Château de Chabenet.
