Bad Gastein – Imperial fountain of youth

“The impressive mountain world around Gastein is sure to delight all keen ramblers. My top tip for autumn is to take the old Roman road from Böckstein to Nassfeld. This is the perfect way to see the delightful colours of nature and many beautiful waterfalls. After a day in the mountains, indulge in some regional and seasonal delicacies, with cheese, bacon, roast and much more on offer not only in the alpine huts, but also in many harvest festival restaurants.”

Monika Enzinger, Resort Manager Bad Gastein

Holidays in Bad Gastein are all about health and well-being. Here in Salzburg Province, you will enjoy a combination of relaxation, nature and imperial history – both in the summer and winter. Buildings from the Belle Epoque and crystal-clear mountain lakes. The wellness offering at the classy Kaiserhof resort is complemented by the unique healing radon galleries of Gastein, which are seen as a fountain of youth.

Enjoy a leisurely stroll through Bad Gastein to the medieval St. Nicholas' Church, which is just a few steps away from the Hapimag resort – the famous Kaiserhof. Reminisce about the past, feel the spirit of days gone by in the listed building and take a step back in time within the historic ambience. The Kaiserhof is located on the outskirts of Bad Gastein. The resort consists of the historic Hotelpalais and three newer annex buildings with holiday apartments, and is located directly on Kaiser-Wilhelm-Promenade. The varied wellness facilities offer peace and relaxation. Enjoy the warm vapour of the stone bath, the pine aroma in the "Brechel" bath (herbal steam bath) or relax in the Finnish sauna. You can relax in the thermal water of the indoor pool or in the bubble jet cave, and massage your neck under the neck jets. Our Leisure Consultant is gladly available to help you plan excursions. Golfers will be impressed by the picturesque setting of the course, which is harmoniously embedded into the natural surroundings at the foot of the Gastein mountains. Numerous little mountain streams, old trees and the romantic forest promise an unforgettable experience of nature. Hike through the Upper Tauern National Park, breathe in the fresh mountain air and walk across blooming meadows. Pause at the waterfall and take in the natural spectacle of this special example of the power of nature. In winter, you can ski down the slopes of the Graukogel, former setting of the World Championships, or enjoy the snowy landscape while cross-country skiing on over 70 kilometres of prepared trails. Snowboarders, skiers and carving specialists will find around 200 kilometres of snow-guaranteed pistes in the four skiing areas of Gastein. The in-house restaurant with its unique view serves specialities from the regional cuisine such as delicious Tafelspitz (boiled beef), rustic Gröstl (fried potato dish) or Kasnock'n (cheese dumplings). A delicious, oven-fresh apple strudel will round off your meal perfectly. The restaurant combines a cosy atmosphere with Austrian conviviality and hospitality and offers a range of theme evenings. The recipes of the royal and imperial era add a touch of nostalgia to the dining room. With a glass of wine or a fresh draught beer - wonderful! Holidays at the Kaiserhof of Bad Gastein are also a culinary and imperial highlight.
