Hapimag Braunlage, Harz

No wonder medieval kings and emperors spent their holidays here. Enjoy the wonderful panorama of the hilly, wooded countryside.

Places to go

Sporty guests will find the quaint Harz village of Wernigerode (25 km) easy to reach by bike. The old town of Goslar is a UNESCO World Heritage Site (38 km). Some of the darkest chapters in German history are recounted in the Mittelbau Dora concentration camp in Nordhausen (30 km).

Appreciate culture

Apart from kings and emperors, the mining industry has also left its mark on the landscape. Destinations not to be missed:

  • Guided tour through Braunlage and visit to the local history museum
  • Bad Lauterberg toy museum (18 km)
  • Wernigerode castle (25 km)
  • Stave church in Hahnenklee (34 km)
  • Theatre in Goslar or open-air theatre in Thale (both 38 km)
  • Quedlinburg cathedral (47 km)
  • Kyffhauser fortress (60 km)

Discover nature

The Hapimag resort Braunlage is located directly in the heart of the Harz national park. You can take a relaxing ride in the cable car up to Wurmberg. For hikers, Goethe's walk to Brocken comes highly recommended. The rambling path along the former East/West German border is also delightful. Rübeländer stalactite caves (21 km), Worbis bear park and Thale zoo (both 50 km) are located nearby.

Enjoy the typical fruits of the country

Wild boars are not only to be found in the surroundings of the Harz Mountains, but also in the local cuisine. We recommend the "Schwarzkittel" as a main dish, also smoked.
