Leave the hustle and bustle of everyday life behind and take things at a more leisurely pace on our houseboats in Vermenton. The houseboat is a means of transport and a comfortable home in one. Become your own captain and discover the famous Burgundy wine region from the water.

Cruise at your leisure through the picture-perfect countryside of this wine-growing region. During your holiday in Burgundy, discover attractions such as Vézelay Abbey, which has been a UNESCO world heritage site since 1979, wander through the old town of Clamecy, sample snails in rustic restaurants, and taste the great Burgundy wines. Be enchanted by the countryside and enjoy cruising along and finding your own pace. Stop off in Auxerre, a small port town on the River Yonne, where you can visit the "Saint-Etienne", one of the most notable early gothic cathedrals.

The comfortably furnished boats ensure you feel at home on our houseboats in Vermenton. The boats undergo a maintenance check before every departure. Before you set off you receive detailed instructions and go on a test run with expert support.

General infrastructure
You will feel at home on these comfortable boats. Before you set off you receive detailed instructions from a local Hapimag employee and go on a test run with expert support. The boats are serviced prior to every voyage and are in prime condition.
General services
  • The starting base in Vermenton has a fenced outdoor car park.
  • Our houseboats have sun roofs, but they must not be opened during travel.
Gastronomy
Burgundy is world famous not only for its wines, but also for its cuisine. Close to the waterways you not only find first-class regional specialities, but also some well-known 2- and 3-star restaurants. Our employees on the base are happy to give you tips on the choice of a suitable restaurant near to the canal or on where you can find colourful weekly markets, small bakeries and grocery shops.
Special information
  • If your trip takes place across several seasonal periods, the price and points will be calculated on a pro-rata basis.
  • No boat licence required. Instruction and test run carried out on-site.
  • Sailing days are Friday or Saturday. Arrival between 14.00 and 17.00. In the event of a delay, please inform the base.

  • Your houseboat will be provided with a full tank (enough for two weeks).
  • The boats come equipped as standard with life jackets and a lifesaver ring. Life jackets for children are available from our on-site staff on request.
  • On-shore connection: 220 volts. Electricity on board: 12 volts, 100 watts. 220 volt sockets are also available in the interior of the boat. You can operate any standard electrical equipment that you bring with you (hairdryer, mobile phone charger, etc.) from a corresponding on-shore power supply (available in most harbours).
  • Please note that the locks in Burgundy are closed on 1 May and 14 July.
Logbook

You will receive a river guide with precise and detailed maps, as well as a Hapimag logbook in five languages containing information on necessary preparations approx. five weeks before the start of your trip.

Please read the logbook carefully. It will increase your anticipation of a great holiday and at the same time prepare you optimally for your trip.

Important information
  • The local charges are settled from Baar upon resrevation
  • A boat driving license is not required
  • Collection of boat with licence: between 14.00 and 17.00.
  • Please be prepared to wait upon later arrival.
  • The participant must hand the boat back at the base at 9.00 on the last day
  • The boat driver must be at least 25 years of age
  • Please note that the locks in Burgundy are closed on 1 May 2010 and 14 July
  • Eurocard/Mastercard and Visa accepted
  • If your trip occurs across weeks with different prices and points debit, the invoice will be calculated on a pro-rata basis
Information for persons with mobility problems and wheelchair users
  • The houseboats are not suited for people with walking disabilities or wheelchair users
