  • New Year's concert

    2 January
    In the Auditorium of Palma, the Symphony Orchestra of the Balearic Islands provides a classical music highlight in the Balearic concert calendar.

  • Street Procession of the Three Magi

    5 January
    In the evening, at around 18.00, the Three Magi will dock their boat at the old jetty and take part in a colourful procession (floats and music) through the old town of Palma. There will be sweets for the children to collect.
  • Night of the Witches (Nit bruixa)

    16 January
    In many places, bonfires (fogeros) are lit and devils (dimonis) dance through the streets. Saint Anthony drives out the powers of evil – this is particularly impressive in Sa Pobla.
  • Sant Antoni (Saint Anthony's Day)

    17 January
    Many places have processions with blessings for pets – Saint Anthony is the patron saint of animals ("Ses Beneides").
  • "Fiesta de Sant Sebastia"

    19 January
    In the Old Town of Palma, free concerts of all kinds of music are given on specially erected stages at various squares in the evening. Beforehand there are barbecues and celebrations.
  • Festival of the Patron Saint of Palma

    20 January
    On the day of Saint Sebastian, the patron saint of the city of Palma, there is a procession of giants (trobada de gegants) around the town hall.

  • Fiestas de Sant Antoni

    23 January
    Procession of the "fire devils" with pyrotechnical effects and musical accompaniment to the Parc de la mar below the cathedral. On the day of Saint Antonio, 17 January, it is the tradition to bless all animals.
  • The almond blossom

    End of January to February:
    The "fifth" season on Majorca: The almond blossom – the blossoming of millions of almond trees makes possible the most beautiful landscape motifs.

    Start of February
    "Sa Rueta and Sa Rua" carnival procession for children and adults in the Old Town of Palma.
  • Day of the Balearic Islands (regional public holiday)

    Various public events, open day at the seat of government in Palma de Mallorca (Consolat del Mar).
  • Penitents' processions before Easter

    April
    During Holy Week there is a penitents' procession every evening in Palma, when holy figures of the various monastic orders are carried through the streets. The special hooded robes and music of the marching bands create a very special atmosphere. The largest procession, which takes place on Holy Thursday (jueves santo), is especially worth seeing.
  • Easter Sunday mass

    Easter Sunday
    On Easter Sunday there is the traditional festival mass at 10 o'clock in the "La Seu" cathedral of Palma de Mallorca, attended by the Spanish royal family. The royal family is greeted personally by the bishop in front of the Cathedral.
  • Majorca Classic by Max Hürzeler

    15 April 2012
    Max Hürzeler, the founder of Bicycle Holidays, Majorca's largest provider of cycling sport holidays, has lent his name to the event.
  • Launch of the cruise ship "Columbus 2"

    17 April 2012
    The cruise ship (formerly the Insignia) of Hapag-Lloyd-Kreuzfahrten has undergone a general overhaul and there will be a spectacular launching ceremony in the port of Palma de Mallorca, Porto Pi.
  • Thomas Cook Ironman 70.3 Majorca

    12 May 2012
    After the successful premiere in 2011, the International Half-Distance Ironman over 70.3 miles (113 kilometres) is to be repeated in the north of Majorca.
  • Sa Fira i Es Firo in Puerto de Soller

    Second weekend in May
    Festival in memory of the Christian defence of the port and the town of Soller against the Moors – Re-enactment of the battle by the locals with great pyrotechnics
  • Series of classical concerts

    July and August
    The concerts in Castell de Bellever in Palma and the Chopin Festival in Valldemossa are especially recommended.
  • Historical spectacle in Pollenca

    First week in August
    Thousands of village inhabitants in the north Majorcan municipality of Pollenca dress up and in a popular festival act out the battle for the port between the Moorish occupiers and the Christian soldiers. After the Christians's victory, they all celebrate together.
  • "Copa del Rey" sailing regatta

    August
    Throughout the year Majorca is the starting point for various regattas (Breitling, Conde de Barcelona, Superyachts etc.). One of the biggest Mediterranean sailing regattas is the King's Regatta, which starts in Palma. The Spanish King Don Juan Carlos and his son Prince Felipe also take part.
  • Night of Art (Nit de l`Art)

    3rd Thursday in September
    Especially in Palma de Mallorca, many museums and art galleries stay open till late at night. A framework programme is often provided, and admission to the museums is free.
  • Fiesta Rei en Jaume I

    First fourteen days in September – 12 September
    Celebration of King Jaime I in Calvia. Each year on the beach in Santa Ponsa the landing of his troops and the battle between the "Moros i Christians" of 1229 is re-enacted.
  • Day of the Tourist

  • Oktoberfest in Paguera

    In the second and third weeks in October, a small part of the world-famous Munich Oktoberfest moves to Paguera. A tent accommodating 2500 people with authentic decorations, Bavarian specialities and Oktoberfest beer is set up on a beach near the resort in Paguera. An original Bavarian band provides entertainment until midnight.
  • Festival MusicaMallorca

    November
    The festival comprises a great variety of classical music concerts. Venues are the Teatre Principal, the Basilica Sant Francescin and the Caixa Forum in Palma.

    Biggest weekly market and island festival in the centre of Inca. Among other things, regional products, black pigs and much more are offered for sale.
  • Christmas illuminations

    First weekend in December
    Switching on of the decorative and typical Spanish Christmas illuminations in the streets of Palma by the Mayoress.
  • Christmas mass

    24 December
    Every year an ecumenical afternoon service is held in Palma's "La Seu" cathedral.
    Also the traditional "Misa de Gallo" with the famous Majorcan Christmas carol "Sibilles" is held at 22.00 or in many villages at midnight.
  • "Festa de l'Estendard"

    31 December
    Annual celebrations commemorating the conquest of Palma by King Jaime I. Celebratory mass in the cathedral, traditional music and Majorcan folk dancing throughout the day. Midnight fireworks.
