Cooperation venture between Hapimag and the Caritas association: Fohrenhof restaurant opened

18.11.2011 / After a construction period of around one year, on Saturday 12 November 2011 the time had now come: The opening celebration for the renovated Hapimag resort in Unterkirnach, which is to be jointly managed by Hapimag and the Caritas association, took place. Several renowned guests were present. The opening celebration gained particular attention because Samuel Koch, who had a tragic accident in the 'Wetten, dass..?' TV entertainment programme, is the patron for the Fohrenhof.

When the guests from politics, local government, clubs and associations arrived at the Hapimag resort in Unterkirnach in the afternoon, they were greeted by the smell of fresh coffee and delicious pastries in the air. The Musikverein Unterkirnach e.V. provided musical entertainment. There was great interest, and politicians such as Siegfried Kauder, Member of the German Parliament, and Maria Michalk, member of the CDU/CSU parliamentary fraction responsible for handicapped persons policy, attended the event.

A success for Hapimag and Caritas

Michael Stöffelmaier, Chief Executive Officer at Inklusiv GmbH, opened the celebration and thanked Hapimag for the cooperation: "We are proud that such a big and powerful partner as Hapimag has made this possible for us". Also for Kurt Scholl, Hapimag CEO, it is clear: "The project is a win-win situation. Thanks to this cooperation venture, the resort in Unterkirnach is again an attractive option in our resorts portfolio. We were especially pleased with the good cooperation with Mayor Gerold Löffler and the entire local council." Jost Rossel, Area Manager for Germany, played a major role in the conception: "The cooperation with Caritas is extremely good. It is an attractive cooperation venture, and works excellently."

Prominent visitors

Hapimag is especially pleased that Samuel Koch is the patron of the Fohrenhof. After his tragic accident almost a year ago when he was a candidate on the 'Wetten, dass..?' TV entertainment programme, he now came to Unterkirnach in person to take part in the opening celebration. The guests listened to the 24-year-old's address with great interest, and were both moved by has fate and impressed by the manner in which he delivered his speech without notes. After speaking, Samuel Koch took the time to look around the Fohrenhof restaurant and to see what the cooks were cooking in the kitchen. Before his departure in the evening, he patiently answered the questions of the numerous journalists present.

As a thank-you present, Michael Stöffelmaier gave him an audio-book. In addition, Samuel Koch can also look forward to receiving a special control unit by means of which in future he will be able to operate his mobile phone himself by speech. Those present were able to contribute by making a donation; Hapimag is also supporting this project.

Many new features

After several speeches, Bernhard Appel, diocesan Caritas director, together with Dean Josef Fischer, blessed the building. The guests then inspected the renovations in the resort. The apartments have been extensively renovated and the new sauna facilities, with bio sauna, steam sauna and Finnish sauna, catch the eye with their comfortable and modern furnishings. Major conversion work has been carried out in the Fohrenhof restaurant. Here the guests were treated to an excellent 4-course menu, and were able to appreciate not only the ambience but also the quality of the cuisine. The highlight was the main course with a delicious fillet of pork in a toasted bread jacket, served by the Fohrenhof team with filled savoy cabbage and potato dumplings.

Cooperation venture between Hapimag and the Caritas association since August 2010

In August 2010, the German subsidiary of Swiss-based Hapimag AG and the 'Caritasverband für den Schwarzwald-Baar-Kreis e.V.' charity association reached an agreement to jointly operate the Hapimag resort in Unterkirnach. Hapimag is to manage the 81 apartments. The Caritas association will be responsible for the Fohrenhof restaurant, with around 100 seats and conceived as an integration operation, and for the housekeeping. Five handicapped people are currently employed, and thus successfully integrated into the job market. In the coming months an additional three jobs are planned for handicapped employees.
