Star Clipper sailed off the Croatian coast
09.08.2010 / The sailing ship cruised around the Adriatic coast for a week, visiting three countries in the process. The almost 140 passengers on board experienced an eventful and unforgettable tour.After setting sail in Venice, the impressive ship crossed the blue sea powered by the wind. First port of call: Dubrovnik, Croatia. The route then took the Star Clipper via Kotor and Korčula to Ortona and then back to Venice via Mali Lošinj. Over half of the roughly 140 passengers were not on the traditional sailing ship for the first time and were therefore very familiar with life on board the Star Clipper. The others explored the features of the ship during their first day on board and discovered modern comfort combined with maritime tradition.
Natural attractions
After a day on the high seas, the passengers enjoyed their first excursion to the mainland and explored Dubrovnik, the "Pearl of the Adriatic". One highlight followed the next. For example, the breathtaking entrance into Boka Fjord at Kotor, Montenegro, impressed the passengers on deck. At the end of these eventful days, the "Comedia del Arte" team (Team Albufeira) enchanted their audience with five evening shows. The programme was created especially for this cruise. The shows organised by the team led by Resort Manager Iwan Schneider have already gained legendary status and form part of every Star Clipper cruise.
Visit to Scerne di Pineto
However, the members will not just have great memories of the shows, they will certainly also look back fondly at their unforgettable visit to the Hapimag Scerne di Pineto resort while the Star Clipper was anchored in Ortona. Here, the Food and Beverage Team treated the members to local specialities and live Italian music.
Sun, sand and sea
Shortly afterwards, it was time to set sail again and the Star Clipper left port in the direction of Mali Lošinj in Croatia. Once again, the members enjoyed a wonderfully beautiful, sunny day with temperatures of around 40 degrees. They sunbathed on the island and cooled off by swimming in the sea. However, even the greatest trip has to come to an end sometime. After seven days at sea, the passengers left the ship in Venice. Everyone will remember the great atmosphere on the ship, the happy, contented faces, the delicious food, the wonderful excursions and the sun reflecting off the sea.
