The 'Breizh' is open
27.07.2010 / Resort Manager Norbert Lang and his team opened the new Breizh restaurant on Saturday. In perfect weather they received the first guests on the dunes. The restaurant was created on the dunes within just four months. The staff are now looking forward to treating the guests to Breton and Sylt delicacies.The elegant, modern building on the dunes of Hörnum and its promising concept have now been brought to life by Restaurant Manager Ronny Rux, Kitchen Manager Thomas Mohren and their committed team.
With its terrace and kiosk, as well as views over the expanses of the North Sea and the south of Sylt, the restaurant invites guests from throughout the island to enjoy a culinary experience. The restaurant offers Breton and North German cuisine. This combination is unique on the island. Tartare de bœuf, crêpes, seafood, fresh fish, classic stews and hearty food from the grill combined with relaxing music with a French flair, a select range of wines and a choice of cocktails will round off your visit to the 'Breizh'.
On the other hand, anyone who prefers something like curried sausage with chips will find what they are looking for at the kiosk. This offers a range of delicious foods and drinks to beach-goers.
Norbert Lang, Resort Manager Sylt, cannot rule out the possibility that "this special place might encourage guests to party until the sun comes up."





'Breizh' – Breton delicacies on Sylt
06.07.2010 / The building of the 'Breizh' restaurant is progressing well. The parquet flooring has been laid and the tiling work was completed on Saturday. While the painters are painting the walls, the kitchen is being installed. The work on the furnishings for the restaurant started on 5 July and the façade will also soon be completed.

25.05.2010 / The timber structure of the "Breizh" restaurant in Hörnum has been put in place. The windows are currently being fitted and work has begun on the interior. The carpenters have also started the larch wood panelling of the façade. The first images of the restaurant on the sand dunes are available here.


09.04.2010 / On 16 March 2010 the first sod was turned for the new 'Breizh' restaurant. As early as August 2010, guests should be able to enjoy tasty meals on the sand dunes for the first time.
In the next few months, Hapimag, the Swiss company offering rights of residence, will build the 'Breizh' restaurant on the sand dunes in Hörnum. In just a few weeks the shell of the modern timber building should be standing on the hill.
Clear and transparent - the modern architecture sets new standards and is polarising opinion. The atmosphere is authentic and matches the lifestyle of the island. Modern elements are linked to nature through the architecture. Glass and wood are the main components of the new building, while the view of the North Sea is the key feature of the architecture. Guests can enjoy a wonderful view of the sea while eating a meal.
In keeping with the name of the restaurant, the menu is also Breton and can be found nowhere else on the island. The menu will be characterised by Breton recipes combined with Sylt cuisine. The ingredients will be fresh, homely and original. For this purpose, Hapimag will cooperate with regional suppliers of organic products. A select range of wines to complement the dishes will be available.
Hapimag is investing approximately 1 million Euro in the new project. In addition to the restaurant, visitors to the beach will be able to make use of public toilets and a kiosk. The kiosk will sell small snacks and drinks that can be consumed on the beach.
