Situation in Mas Nou has calmed down
16.03.2010 / Since last night the main and some other buildings again have electricity. The cold rooms in the gastronomy area and the shop are working without problems.This morning, the IT and telephone could again be switched on. The first guests are expected for Wednesday and Thursday and will be placed into one of the houses which are fully functioning again.
So as not to strain the electricity system more than necessary, not all buildings will be opened. As of next week, the other buildings will also again be operational.
The restaurant and the shop will re-open as of this Thursday.
As planed, guests can arrive again from Thursday, 18th March 2010 onwards.
15.03.2010 / State of emergency in Mas Nou
Power outage in Mas Nou continues. Yesterday, another electricity pylon fell over leading to a further power outage. The utility company has informed, that they are working to repair the damage, but cannot say when the power lines will again be up and running.
Whether members can again travel to Mas Nou from 18 March onwards will be decided tomorrow.
12.03.2010 / State of emergency in Mas Nou
Yesterday, the resort had electricity for a total of 3 hours. However, since then, electricity has no longer been available and there are now still around 20’000 persons in the province Girona without electricity, heating and warm water.
The last members left the resort this morning.
According to the weather forecast, the sun should come out on the weekend and the temperatures begin to rise. Therefore, the Resort Manager, Marc Reinhardt, expects to be able to again welcome members from Thursday 18.03.2010 onwards.
11.03.2010 / State of emergency in Mas Nou
The resort Mas Nou is being evacuated.
The authorities and the electricity companies have informed us, that it may still take a number of days until the energy supply is again up and running. Therefore, catering and safety in the resort can no longer be guaranteed.
Due to this situation, the Resort Manager Marc Reinhardt will today inform all members, which are currently still in the resort (35 apartments), that it will no longer be possible to keep the resort operational and request that they leave during the course of the day.
Members, which have booked between the 10th and 18th March 2010, are being called by the Service Center in Baar and informed, that a stay in Mas Nou in regrettably not possible at the moment.
Marc Reinhardt and his team hope to again be able to welcome guests from 19th March 2010.
10.03.2010 / State of emergency in Mas Nou
The electricity supply is interrupted and the access road to Mas Nou is blocked.
Both the electricity supply and the telephone mainlines at the resort Mas Nou are not working yet. Apparently, the snow storm knocked down 30 electricity pylons, resulting in over 50'000 inhabitants of the Girona province still being without electricity today.
The access road to the Mas Nou resort is still impassable due to the snow. Our Resort Manager, Marc Reinhardt, is in constant contact with the authorities, trying to arrange for the road to be cleared. The around 80 members and guests currently in the resort are being supplied with everything the need by Marc Reinhardt and his team. We expect a few days to pass, before the situation is back to normal again.
No arrivals will be possible up to and including 12.03.2010. All affected members are being contacted by our Service Center in Baar. We hope to find out tomorrow, whether arrivals will be possible as of the 13.03.2010.
