Edinburgh
Golf has been played in Edinburgh and its immediate vicinity for over 400 years. In 1567 Mary Queen of Scots played on the Musselburgh Links, which is today the oldest golf course in the world. Although historically the game of golf has its origins in Fife, Edinburgh was very influential in the development of the game.
There are 20 golf courses just within the city limits. Including the famous Bruntsfield Links. Just a few minutes from the city centre are some of the best courses, such as Braid Hills No. 1, Duddingston, Baberton and Kings Acre.
