Cirque du Soleil (French for 'circus of the sun') is a circus company from Montreal in Canada. It shows a modern form of circus and omits the classic circus elements such as animal acts and sawdust. Instead Cirque du Soleil offers a mix of artistry, theatre and live music.
Cirque du Soleil was founded in 1984 by street artists Guy Laliberté and Daniel Gauthier. The company employs approximately 5000 people worldwide of which around 1300 artists come from almost 50 countries. The value of the Cirque du Soleil company was estimated at one billion dollars in 2004. 20 percent of the company is owned by Istithmar (Arabic for investment), a private equity firm from Dubai. -

Her seemingly effortless combination of instrumental and singing perfection and emotions into sound captivates listeners. In her last album, "The Wind that Shakes the Barley", the fascinating interpreter of music returns to the early inspirations of her career, the traditional folklore of Ireland, Scotland and England. The passionate globetrotter will finally be back in Europe in spring 2012 on her Celtic Footprints Tour.
