At our address in Berlin Gendarmenmarkt, experience the contrast between modernity and nostalgia for the German Democratic Republic (GDR). Discover historic buildings, modern shopping temples and places of world history. Berlin is a trendy city with excellent shopping quarters, fashion boutiques, restaurants and nightclubs. The offer of cultural attractions is as diverse as the city itself.

The residence in the east of the city is located near the Museum Island, which is a World Heritage Site. Stroll down one of the best-known streets in Berlin during the course of your holiday, the nearby Friedrichstrasse. Pass Checkpoint Charlie, the former allied border crossing, and the magnificent boulevard Unter den Linden, where you can browse through countless trendy boutiques. Peruse antique collections in the Pergamon museum on the unique Museum Island or discover the art of days gone by. In the museums, you can learn about the history of the city since the infamous wall was built and find out what changed after the wall came down. Visit the concert hall, enjoy the view from the Berlin television tower or have your photo taken next to celebrities in the waxworks of Madam Tussauds. Visit the Reichstag building and walk through the Brandenburg gate.

Mobility
The Hapimag residence is 3 minutes' walk from the next underground station (Stadtmitte). The public transport network is very good. You can conveniently leave your car in the resort's own car park.
Permanent pollution-free zone
As of 1 January 2008, inner city Berlin, i.e. the area within the S-Bahn ring, has been designated as a permanent pollution-free zone. Only cars that have an emissions level of four are allowed to drive within the pollution-free zone as of 1 January 2010. These must have a green badge. Both our addresses in Berlin are also affected by this measure. That means that guests travelling to our addresses in Berlin must purchase the relevant environmental badge for EUR 5.- before getting there. The environmental badges are available from all vehicle registration offices, TÜV, and Dekra (international service provider committed to safety and quality), as well as from vehicle workshops which carry out the exhaust emissions analysis, by presenting the motor vehicle registration documents.
